He also said that he’d be seeing the Doctor again. “Maybe not soon, but when she needs me. I’ll be there.” He wasn’t lying. The BBC has confirmed that Jack will be making good on his promise with a guest role in this year’s festive special ‘Revolution of the Daleks’. He’s on the poster and everything. According to the BBC: “Captain Jack will be on hand to help ‘the fam’ as they discover a disturbing plan forming involving one of the Doctor’s most feared and dangerous enemies, the Daleks. With the Thirteenth Doctor locked away in a space prison, will Captain Jack be able to help save planet Earth?” The festive special will see the Doctor separated from her Sheffield-based companions who are going to have to face the Dalek threat without her… to begin with, at least. “There’s no bigger treat than the return of John Barrowman to Doctor Who” continued a man who’s clearly never unwrapped a factory anomaly all-chocolate-no-wafer finger of Kit Kat. John Barrowman described being back on the show as like returning home, touchingly calling Captain Jack a character very close to his heart who had changed his life and concluding: “I hope everyone enjoys Jack’s heroic adventure with Thirteen.” Before we can do that, there’s the small matter of her being banged up abroad. There’s also bound to be an awkward conversation when Jack learns that she did the one thing he travelled through time and space to warn her not to do at any cost, by giving The Lone Cyberman what he wanted that time. Still, all’s well that ends well. There’s no confirmed air date for the episode as yet, and other guest stars are yet to be officially unveiled, but we’ll bring you more as soon as we’re allowed.
